Rooibos CHArity
A Cup of Rooibos for a Brighter Future
POINT.ONE Project
0.1 pence donated per cup
For every cup of GASSCO tea you drink, we donate 0.1 pence to the South African non-profit.
Surfers Not Street Children.
That’s about 3 pence per pouch of 30 teabags
The red bird featured on our packaging is inspired by a “bird of happiness” that brings rooibos all the way from South Africa.
It has long been a beloved symbol of health and care for babies, parents, grandparents—everyone.
We’ve made it the symbol of our “Rooibos Charity” too.
Now, that bird is spreading its wings to help children in South Africa.
What is Surfers Not Street Children?
Surfers Not Street Children is a powerful program that supports children and young people through surfing, mentoring, and care.
In regions where violence, crime, and poverty are daily realities, this project brings hope, purpose, and a safe space.
Led by a local team of social workers, caregivers, lifeguards, and surf coaches—including former street children—the organization changes lives.
They identify children at risk of becoming street children and offer them a place to play, learn, grow, and thrive.
Through guidance and the joy of surfing, they help these children build confidence and independence.
Thanks to this program, many have gone on to become coffee baristas, lifeguards, restaurant owners, surf shop staff, coaches—and even professional surfers.
We are proud to support and grow these success stories.

Why We Give Back to South Africa
“In today’s world, the people who grow and make our food and drinks are often invisible to those who consume them.
When you drink rooibos, I hope you’ll take a moment to think about where it came from, and who made it.
We wanted to do something meaningful—something that creates a positive impact just by enjoying a cup of tea.
So we chose to support Surfers Not Street Children, a program that is also active in my hometown of Durban.
Thanks to your support, over 100 million cups of rooibos have been enjoyed, and more than 20 million yen has been donated.”

Our History of Giving
Thanks to everyone who has purchased our rooibos and honeybush teas, we were able to donate 5,685,363 JPY to the AIDS orphan care center Two Sisters between February 1, 2012, and September 30, 2014.
This included contributions from GASSCO Japan and our partner Radishbo-ya.
The support provided essentials like food for the children, and also helped build a football field and netball court for local kids.
Continuing Our Support
Since October 2014, we’ve continued our mission by supporting Surfers Not Street Children.
Every cup of rooibos tea from equals 0.1 pence donated.
A small action, multiplied over time, brings hope and smiles to children in South Africa. 🥰
